back plate
|
The twin fusee brass movement has circular plates and knopped pillars and is probably English. The back plate is engraved with leafy scrolls. This pattern is repeated on the three securing brackets and on the heart shaped winding key. The verge escapement has a knife edge suspension and short pendulum with pear shaped bob. The clock strikes the hour on a bell planted on the back plate and has a trip lever to release the racks at will. (However, there is no aperture in the case for a pull cord to operate it.)
The movement of the clock is secured to the inside of the case by three engraved brass right angle brackets. |
