On its stand, the globe is 37 cm (14.5 in.) high. The globe itself is 16.5 cm [6.5 in.] in diameter.

The mechanism is concealed inside a copper globe with applied paper gores engraved with the constellations and prominent stars. Two of the gores have been replaced with manuscript facsimiles. The original chapter ring was silvered brass. The stand is recent.
